Polyaigos (island with a lot of goats)
is the largest uninhabited island of the Aegean. It has great geological and ecological importance since it is considered the best preserved, environmentally speaking, Mediterranean island and hosts rare or even endangered endemic species of fauna and flora, like the Mediterranean monk seal, the endemic adder Microvipera schweizeri (which lives only in Kimolos, Polyaigos, Milos and Sifnos), and a lot of wild goats. The wild exotic landscapes, the beautiful beaches and the amazing sea make the island an attractive destination.
Goupa
picturesque fishing settlement with the “sirmata” (caves carved in the smooth rock, where they keep the boats).
Ellinika, Mavrospilia
in the shallow waters lies sunk the ancient city of the island, while on the beach you will see a lot of tombs from the Mycenaean to the Hellenistic period. The more observing will discover fossils of sea organisms.
Vromolimno
On the shore you can visit the half-sunken cave (a catacomb or a mine tunnel?).
OPTIONAL
Skiadi.
“trademark” of the island, a rare impressive geological monument, due to its size and shape, which is part of the Atlas of Geological Monuments of the Aegean. Is a huge stone mushroom, that lies in the middle of a barren plateau.
Horio
is the picturesque capital of the island with characteristic Cycladic touches. You can visit the Medieval Castle the Museums (Archaeological and Folklore), and the post Byzantine churches.
